Day 7. Part 1. Suspension Bridge in the Cave City of Khndzoresk

On Google and Yandex maps.

Woke up at sunrise again. Anton sleeps a couple of hours longer.

Tried recording a video of the view, but it felt kinda like a grandpa move 😂

While Anton was still asleep, I decided to get some sun — it wasn’t too hot yet. Had an idea to film my coffee brewing process. Turned out funny — neighbors opened their door (at 1:30) and waited till I finished recording 😬

Belarusian dairy is sold in Armenia. This cheese costs about 14 rubles at the current rate.

Armenia has preserved a lot of artifacts from the past. This camera still seems to work.

I really love the horizons in the mountains. Photos never capture them the way your eyes do.

By the way, we’re driving a Kia Sportage — an all-wheel-drive automatic. We even had a wardrobe in the trunk.

Arrived at the cave city of Khndzoresk. I’ve been here before — wrote a separate post about it.

Here I’ll post only photos and videos from this visit.

There’s a suspension bridge in Khndzoresk. It was built by a local resident with his own money. More details are in that same post.

The bridge wobbles as you walk on it. Anton kept asking me to take his photos:

Before the bridge there’s a cave house where Sevada gives tours. He was born and lived in Khndzoresk for 5 years.

The caves are man-made. The black on the ceilings is soot.

At the end of this video, you can see the moonshine still. Sevada still distills his own alcohol there.

This time I bought mulberry moonshine from him. Sevada gave me a discount — said I’m a regular now!

We decided to take a hiking route.

Stopped by an old church to rest.

It was about 35°C. Anton walked happily, enjoying the views!

Checked into a cave with a great view:

Apartment tour:

Brewed a second cup of coffee. Tested solid fuel tablets — one lasts just long enough to boil a single cup of water. Unedited 15-minute video:

Secretly: we only had sparkling mineral water. The espresso came out with thick foam — almost like sour cream :-) The taste was actually kind of cool, slightly salty.

Rested, recharged, and proudly moved on.

Saw another church from above:

Anton decided to guard the backpack and let me run there. The view from the church looks like this (the bridge is visible at the bottom right):

The church is older and smaller than the first one. No idea what year it’s from.

Someone left a small matchstick church on the windowsill.

Along the way, there are picnic spots, often shaded by trees.

Anton’s thrilled!

Found a started but unfinished cave:

In this photo, you can see the suspension bridge and the wooden stairs behind it:

The camera doesn’t capture how steep the descent is. In the video it looks like an easy path, but Anton’s Crocs actually slipped on the way down.

Heading back:

Resting and waiting for the moonshine we bought:

The route turned out to be about 4–5 km.

We walked for about 3 hours total. Anton at the finish line:
