The Flight
Days 1–2.
The evening before heading to the airport, we move the coffee plants to a temporary home.

On the way, the clutch pedal piston stopper breaks off. Sometimes the piston extends too far and blocks the pedal from being pressed. Emergency repair needed! I buy a bandage at a pharmacy and fix the pedal using the “dad method.” Limiting the pedal travel manually.

In Minsk, we traditionally grab coffee.

It’s early October outside, but I’m already dressed for Vietnamese weather. Only kept socks on to survive the trip.
Parking at the Minsk airport. Prices near the airport still seem pretty reasonable.

I always take a photo of the car in parking lots so I can remember where I parked it.
At the airport, I strap the suitcase with a yellow belt. Not for security. The first time I flew with this suitcase, I realized there were way too many black suitcases on the baggage carousel, and it was hard to spot mine right away. With a bright strap, it stands out from far away.

This is Sheremetyevo already. They sell cognac in an interesting way here. Next to each bottle are flasks with ingredients whose aromas imitate the cognac flavor profile.

When you can smell different cognacs side by side, you realize they really are different: tart, sweet, floral, woody, and so on. I had a similar feeling during coffee cupping, when you taste different beans and roast levels one after another.
At Sheremetyevo, you have to take your shoes off during security screening. Since I already changed clothes for Hanoi weather ahead of time, I go through security barefoot.

Flying to Shanghai on a large plane with two aisles.
The food on the plane is decent.

Approaching the airport in Shanghai.
Interesting format for the “items prohibited on board” announcement.
Unusual water cup:
I wonder if they made this shape because it’s cheaper to produce or so people wouldn’t leave the cups everywhere.
Flying дальше.
The second plane from Shanghai to Hanoi is smaller — only one aisle.
Flying through a cloud. Vietnam is already below us.
We landed. I like filming “People doing things” type videos.
First shot of Hanoi. In Asia, I’m always fascinated by the multilayered feel of urban space.
Heading to a rooftop restaurant for a snack.
And here we catch the sunset.

Next Hanoi. Part 1
